- Manuscripts will only be accepted in electronic form. Entries must be emailed as an attachment. They should be supplied as a Word document.
- The competition is open for submissions as from 1st July 2009.
Last date for entries, which must be submitted by e-mail, is 30th November 2009.

- Winner announced at the Dundee Literary Festival, 2010.
- An entry must be a novel and an original work of fiction. The novel must be unpublished in book form.
- Only one manuscript per person may be entered and authors must be living at the time of the award.
- Manuscripts previously entered for the prize may not be re-entered.
- Entrants must not have had a novel previously published or self published.
- Children’s novels will not be accepted.
- No limits are set on length but entrants may note that the normal length for a novel might be around 80,000 words.
- Each entry must be submitted with a synopsis of no more than 500 words.
- Scripts should not be under consideration by other publishers during the judging process.
- Manuscripts should not bear the name of the author anywhere. Novels will be judged without the author’s identity being known to the judges. Entrants must ensure they submit a completed entry form with their manuscript.
