1. An entry must be a novel and an original work of fiction.
2. The novel must be unpublished in book form.
3. Only one manuscript per person may be entered.
4. Manuscripts previously entered for the prize may not be re-entered.
5. Entrants must not have had a novel previously published or be self-published.
6. Children's novels will not be accepted.
7. No limits are set on length but entrants may note that the normal length for a novel might be around 80,000 words.
8. Each entry must be submitted with a synopsis of no more than 500 words.
9. Entrants must be willing to have their script published, subject to reasonable financial arrangements with Polygon and entrants must accept the terms offered by the publisher
*see notes. Scripts should not be under consideration by other publishers during the judging process. Scripts that do not win the prize may also be considered for publication.
10. Entries sent by e-mail must be submitted by an earlier deadline of
February 1, 2008. The email address for entry is

11. The closing date for all other entries is
March 3, 2008.
No manuscripts will be accepted after this date.
12. Manuscripts should not bear the name of the author. Novels will be judged without the author's identity being known to the judges. Entrants must ensure they submit a completed entry form with their manuscript. Entry forms are available online.

14. A stamped addressed reply card or e-mail address should be included by any entrant wishing an acknowledgement of receipt.
15. In the unlikely event that no entered manuscript proves suitable for publication the £10,000 prize may be withheld.
16. The judges' decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
17. Entries cannot be accepted from members of the judging panel or their families.
